On the 10th, a post appeared on an online community forum stating that someone had written negative graffiti about BoA on a bus stop advertisement board near Gangnam Station in Seoul.
The photo posted alongside the message showed graffiti with one-sided, malicious comments about BoA carved into the bus stop advertisement board.
Regarding this graffiti, one netizen reported, “It seems that there are many vulgar, malicious comments about BoA written on bus stops, transformers, and electronic billboard pillars in the Gangnam area.”
These graffiti were also discovered in other areas of Seoul outside Gangnam. Reports of graffiti sightings emerged in areas such as Gui, Kunja, and Cheonho within the Gwangjin District and Gangdong District. Additionally, it was revealed that graffiti featuring the name of KARINA from the Korean girl group 'aespa' was also found.
As the issue came to light, BoA's fans immediately reported the graffiti to the police, the local district office, and her agency SM Entertainment, while also spending late nights erasing the graffiti.
Fans posted photos of themselves removing the graffiti on social media, writing, “All the graffiti written on the media poles between Gangnam Station and Sinchon Station has been removed, and we have provided information to the Cybercrime Investigation Team about the graffiti on the media poles.”
Another BoA fan expressed concern, saying, “I wanted to stay up all night to watch over it (in case someone tried to graffiti again), but I couldn't, and I'm sorry for that. What I really want is for the artist not to see it, and I'm sorry we couldn't protect it.”
Fans have been reporting this information to the Cybercrime Investigation Team and continuing to provide information to “Kwangya 119,” the defamation reporting site for SM Entertainment's artists.
