[Interview] (2) Do Kyungsoo (EXO's DO) - ”Fabricated City” Lee Gwangsoo was so good it was infuriating... The defeat scene was a good way to relieve stress
*Contains plot summary and spoilers. Do Kyungsoo (EXO's DO) talked about working with his best friend Lee Gwangsoo in "Fabricated City."
On the afternoon of the 11th, Do Kyung-soo, who appeared in the Disney+ original TV series "Fabricated City," was interviewed at a cafe in Palpan-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Regarding the action scenes he played as Yohan in the drama, Do Kyungsoo said, "There weren't as many scenes where Yohan (Do Kyungsoo) had to take direct action on set as I thought.
"Compared to the scenes with Yohan (Chang Wook), it wasn't action enough to be called action," he said. "I thought a lot about the blades that Yohan uses. There was a dagger, but I wanted to make it something that viewers would be interested in.
"When I saw it, I thought the long sword looked more brutal, so I chose it. I thought something simpler and more damaging per hit would suit me better," he explained.
At the climax, Tae-jun leaves the scene without killing Yohan.
Kyungsoo said, "From Yohan's point of view, I think it was a type of emotion he had never felt before in his life," and added, "I think Yohan is dead. Who is the figure whose back is shown at the end?"
I left it as an open ending that is unclear. At the time of filming, there were various ideas about whether to make the figure of Yohan, the nanny, or a different person, but I decided to make it "a nobody."
"I chose it as a way to save someone," he said. "If you think about it realistically, it would be like a sword being stuck in your chest and a fire starting. Taejun is someone who has always helped others, so I think it would be good for him to be rescued at the right time."
"He might have gone in, but Yohan is a person who has done the worst things, so if he had been stabbed and left alone, no one would have come to his aid," he said.
On working with his best friend Lee Gwangsoo, "It's been a while since 'It's Okay, That's Love' that we've appeared in the same production, but back then we didn't have any scenes where we faced each other, so this is actually the first time.
I've always seen Dan in his daily life as a close friend, but when I saw him on set, immersing himself in his acting, I thought, "This isn't the hyung I know." I knew he was really good at acting.
However, there was so much to learn... he was so good that I honestly felt really angry (= frustrated),” he said, drawing laughter.
Regarding Yohan's facial expression in this scene becoming a hot topic, Do Kyungsoo joked, "It felt like my stress was being relieved at that moment," and added, "Rather, I was able to concentrate well and
"It was also strange. I was worried, 'What if I feel embarrassed?' or 'What if I can't look him in the eye?' but that wasn't the case at all," she recalled.
Regarding the rumor that "Lee Gwangsoo added the stabbing action," he said, "I didn't know that Gwangsoo hyung was the one who did it. I was surprised when I heard about it later.
"Yu Jae Suk hyung said it as a joke on the TV show 'Pingego'. It was really just a joke," he said, laughing and denying the allegations.
