Rumors of the death of Kris, former member of the Korean boy band EXO, who is currently serving time in prison on suspicion of sexually assaulting a minor, are spreading and have become a hot topic.
On the 13th (local time), a Taiwanese entertainment media outlet reported that rumors of Kris' death were spreading on social media.
According to the media, Mr. A, who introduced himself as Kris's prison mate, posted on social media, "It is true that Kris has died. A few days ago, the prison guards were whispering to each other.
"There are rumors that he was gang-raped, that he was murdered because he couldn't satisfy the local (prison) boss," he said.
"There are rumors," he added, shocking people. However, it was revealed that this was not true. As soon as the rumors spread, the Public Security Bureau made an unusual move by posting an explanation on its official SNS account.
The police said, "The photo circulating on the Internet was taken from a news report and the face of a former inmate was replaced with Kris's face," and it was clear that the photo was fake.
Previously, KRIS was arrested in 2021 on suspicion of sexual assault against a minor. At the time, his former girlfriend, 18-year-old A, had more than eight victims, including himself, and among them, a minor.
In November of last year, the Beijing People's Court found Kris guilty in the first trial and sentenced him to 11 years and 6 months in prison for rape and 1 year in prison for gang indecent assault.
On this day, KRIS was spared the death penalty, but was sentenced to a total of 13 years in prison and to be deported to China once the sentence is completed. The second trial also upheld the original ruling, and KRIS
was sentenced to 13 years in prison. Meanwhile, Kris debuted as a member of EXO in 2012. However, two years later, in 2014, he filed a lawsuit against SM claiming that the exclusive contract was invalid.
He raised this issue and left Korea.
