Korean media suspends operation of Ulleungdo's ”fatty samgyeopsal” restaurant

A YouTuber's video criticizing the "fatty samgyeopsal" he tried while traveling on Ulleung Island became a hot topic, and Ulleung County suspended the restaurant.
According to Ulleung County and Asia Economy, on the 26th, Ulleung County suspended the restaurant that was accused of selling "fatty samgyeopsal" for seven days from the 25th to the 31st for violating the Food Sanitation Act.
Nam Han-gwon, head of Ulleung County, wrote on his Facebook page on the 23rd, the day the hot topic of fatty samgyeopsal went viral, "I'm really sorry to the islanders and everyone who visits Ulleung Island.
Furthermore, Ulleung County has decided to inspect restaurants and accommodations. On the 19th, the YouTuber asked, "Is Ulleung Island originally like this?"
In the video, he reportedly ordered two servings of samgyeopsal at a barbecue restaurant on Ulleungdo Island, but more than half of the meat served was fatty pork.
It was also reported that despite the air conditioning breaking down in the hotel, no special measures or apologies were given, and the video was shared by many internet users.
At the end of the video, the YouTuber said, "Ulleungdo is an island where things are not taken for granted," and added, "The younger generation is coming to Ulleungdo.
"I wonder if they will come again after coming once," he said. The video had been viewed more than 1.1 million times in the two days since it was released, and exceeded 2 million views in the third day, raising the barrage of interest in Ulleungdo.
Complaints about the low prices and lack of hospitality spread. The owner of the restaurant in question said, "It seems that while I was sick and in the hospital, the meat from the front leg that was being saved for the jjigae was mistakenly served to me.
Ulleung County will support the creation of a consultation body for private-sector tourism service businesses, and will work to standardize services and provide guidance to local governments when problems arise.
The government plans to award prizes to businesses that do well. Nam County Mayor said, "We want tourists who visit Ulleungdo to have good memories and want to come back, so we ask the islanders to take an active interest and participate in the project."
