LG CNS builds insect smart factory with annual production capacity of 700 tons (Korea)

CNS will apply its technology for selecting and controlling suitable products to the factory. The factory will be built by the end of 2025, and a large-scale automated mass production system will be established to produce about 700 tons of mealworms per year.
The company plans to collect and analyze data from the entire production process, from breeding to inspection and transportation, in real time to understand the growing environment and operating conditions, and automate and stop the production process at each breeding stage.
The plan is to build a smart factory that will integrate and control the insect production cycle in a single system, improving operational efficiency.
In addition, AI technology is used to monitor the growth stages of insects and calculate the optimal shipping time.
Through this project, the company plans to present a "Korean insect standard model" that will lead the insect business together with Gangwon Province.
