China's installed power capacity up 18.8% year-on-year in Jan-May: Chinese report

The National Energy Administration recently released nationwide power industry statistics for January to May. As of the end of May, China's power generation capacity was about 3.61 billion cubic meters, up 18.8% from the same period last year.
Of this, solar power generation capacity increased by 56.9% to about 1.08 billion kilowatts, and wind power generation capacity increased by 23.1% to about 570 million kilowatts.
In the first five months of this year, the average operating hours of power generation facilities nationwide was 1,249 hours, down 132 hours from the same period last year. During the same period, the amount of investment in power generation construction by major electric power companies nationwide was down 0.4% year-on-year.
Investment in power grid construction increased by 19.8% to 204 billion former (approximately 4.1 trillion yen).
