Yoo HaeJin: The reason why he can do carpentry in ”Three Meals a Day”... ”When I was doing theater, I had to make everything myself”
Actor Yoo HaeJin reminisced about his time in a theater company. Yoo HaeJin's new film "Soju War" depicts a corporate takeover war against the backdrop of the 1997 Korean currency crisis.
Lee Je Hoon also shared his family history, in which his father quit his business and started working as a day laborer due to the Korean currency crisis.
During an interview with Herald POP at the festival, Yoo Haejin revealed that her experience in the theater helped her on her role in the tvN variety show "Three Meals a Day."
On this day, Yoo Haejin said, "I knew that the whole country was in trouble through the news about the Korean currency crisis, but I was working on a play.
It wasn't that hard because I didn't have anything like that because I was in my prime. I was saving on bus fares and eating bread, so I think my life didn't change much."
He continued, "If I had a part-time job, I would have felt that my income would have decreased, but the theater company's work schedule is irregular, so I couldn't work part-time even if I wanted to.
"I asked every day if I could work as many hours as I wanted at a stand, but there's no place like that," she said. Yoo Hae-jin also said, "People who aren't performing (on stage) have to create something.
No. If I was going to make a car out of cardboard, I had to make it. I had to do everything. Of course I wasn't very good at it, but the reason I'm making things for Three Meals a Day is because of that experience.
The film "Soju War" is currently being shown in Korea and has been met with great acclaim.
