On the morning of the 5th, the 41st Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court ruled that ADOR had filed a lawsuit against NewJeans over the exclusive contract.
The second hearing for the lawsuit to determine the validity of the agreement was held. On the same day, the members of "New Jeans" did not appear in court.
The court asked NewJeans and ADOR for their consent and encouraged them to reach an agreement, but this was unsuccessful.
The attorney for "WJeans" said, "The relationship of trust has already been broken, and we have crossed a river from which we cannot return. I will not know until I have spoken to our clients, but it will not be easy."
However, ADOR said, "Once the court issues a decision, whether on the merits or on provisional measures, we believe it will be easier to reach an agreement."
Prior to this, at the end of November last year, NewJeans claimed that the trust between ADOR and HYBE had been broken and that they had violated the contract.
ADOR responded by stating that the exclusive contract between the members of NewJeans and ADOR is legally valid and should not be terminated.
The claim that ADOR was a management company (planning company) under the exclusive contract is a one-sided claim. Our company filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract along with a provisional injunction that recognizes ADOR as a management company (planning company) under the exclusive contract.
"We filed a lawsuit against ADOR and are awaiting the court's decision," they countered. However, NewJeans did not return to ADOR, and instead continued their independent activities, including performing on stage in Hong Kong under a different group name.
Five of the members have opened new social media accounts to share their current status and to clarify their positions through their parents.
ADOR filed a lawsuit against NewJeans seeking confirmation of the validity of the exclusive contract, and the court recently ruled that NewJeans had a status as a planning company.
The court accepted the request for a provisional injunction banning the signing of all contracts and advertising contracts. Although NewJeans' independent activities have come to a halt, the conflict remains.
Meanwhile, the third hearing in the lawsuit between ADOR and NewJeans to confirm the validity of their exclusive contract will be held on the 24th of next month.
