China's Ministry of Transport: ”Major indicators maintain upward trend” - Chinese media

According to data recently released by the Ministry of Transport, key indicators of the transportation industry, such as cargo transportation volume, port cargo handling volume, and personnel movement, maintained an upward trend in April.
Commercial freight traffic in April increased 4.3% year-on-year to 5.03 billion tonnes, of which road freight traffic increased 4.1% to 3.75 billion tonnes.
Waterway freight traffic increased 4.9% to 860 million tons. Commercial freight traffic in the first four months of the year increased 4.7% year-on-year to 18.09 billion tons. Of this, road freight traffic increased 5.
In April, cargo volume handled at ports increased 4.8% to 1.53 billion tons.
Domestic cargo increased by 5.5% and foreign trade cargo increased by 3.4%. Container handling volume increased by 7.0% to 29.22 million TEU.

Of these, the number of road users increased by 3.2% to a total of 4.89 billion people, while the number of waterway users decreased by 3.4% to a total of 21.69 million people.
The number of people who traveled across regions from January to April increased 3.8% to a total of 22.74 billion people.
Of these, the number of road users increased by 3.7% to a total of 20.96 billion people, while the number of waterway users decreased by 2.8% to a total of 76.55 million people.
Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Transport, investment in transportation fixed assets in the first four months of the year was 950.3 billion yuan (approximately
19 trillion yen).
