Jeju Air passenger plane ”descends” from runway at Da Nang Airport... No casualties
After landing at Da Nang Airport in Vietnam, a passenger plane operated by Korean low-cost carrier Jeju Air, carrying 183 people, left the runway and suffered a tire failure.
The passengers were put on emergency standby in the middle of the night. Jeju Air Flight 7C2217 (B737-800) departed from Incheon Airport in South Korea at 1 a.m. on the 28th.
Immediately after landing at Da Nang Airport at around 10:00 (local time), the plane veered off the runway into the buffer zone to the right and returned to the former shortly thereafter. In the process, one of the landing gear tires was torn.
At the time, there were 183 passengers on board the aircraft, but fortunately no casualties occurred. Jeju Air immediately ordered all passengers to disembark and began replacing the tires on-site.
A replacement aircraft was sent from South Korea to be used on the return flight. The South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is currently holding a press conference with the flight crew and other related parties to explain the cause of the runway departure and the circumstances at the time.
We are currently investigating the situation.
