Cha Cheol Nam, who killed two Chinese and seriously injured two Koreans in the Jeongwang-dong area of Siheung City, was arrested and sent to the prosecution.
Police investigations revealed that it was a planned crime that started with the police. At around 1 p.m. on the 27th, Siheung Police Station arrested Cha Cheol-nam (56), who was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
Cha is accused of using a blunt object to kill a Chinese man in his 50s at his home in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung-si, at around 4 p.m. on the 17th of this month.
At around 5:00 pm on the same day, Cha also killed A's younger brother, B, in his 50s, with a blunt object at his home. Two days later, on the 19th, at around 9:36 am, Cha killed A at a convenience store near his home.
He stabbed Ms. C, a female store owner in her 60s, with a weapon and fled. Ms. C sustained serious injuries to her abdomen and face and is currently receiving treatment. At around 1:23 p.m., the man ran away from Ms. C's convenience store, 1.2 km away.
In a parking lot at a sports park a few meters away, he brandished the weapon at Mr. D (in his 70s), the owner of the apartment he was renting and living in. Mr. D was also seriously injured in the abdomen and other areas and was taken to the hospital.
According to a police investigation, Cha had lent a total of 30 million won (approximately 3.1 million yen) to a Chinese brother with whom he had been close for 13 years on several occasions, but had not received it back.
It was revealed that he had been preparing the tools to kill the two since the beginning of this month. Cha said, "Even though he had the ability to pay, he never paid them back, so I've been the one who's been giving them to me.
Cha also said of Ms. C, the female owner of the convenience store, that she had thought her life was over after killing her brother, and then suddenly remembered her.
"I remembered that the female owner of the convenience store had been spreading bad things about me," he said. Regarding D, he said, "I remembered that she had always treated me rudely and it made me feel bad."
Police confirmed all of Cha's purchases of the murder weapon through CCTV footage, bank account tracing, and communication investigations.
The car and bicycle he stole were also recovered. On the 21st of this month, while on his way to a pre-arrest hearing (warrant review), Cha was asked by reporters about his motive for the crimes. He replied, "They are very bad people."
On the 22nd, the police decided to release Cha's personal information and posted it on the website of the Gyeonggi Nambu National Police Agency.
