On Youtube, director Min Gyu-dong revealed the reason for casting Kim Sung Cheol. Kim Sung Cheol plays the role of Du in the movie "Broken Heart," and is a man of character who is both rough and sensitive, calm and passionate.
She received positive reviews for her perfect portrayal of the character. Director Min said, "I first saw Kim Sung Cheol in a musical. He's normally a shy person, but his charisma on stage was incredible.
I felt like there was a kind of madness I had never seen before," she said. She continued, "Lee Hye-young is very tall, so I couldn't believe that he was such a masculine guy. Kim
"I thought Songcheol would be able to express both boyish beauty and insanity at the same time," he added. Director Min added, "Du-woo doesn't appear on even a few pages of the novel. I thought it would be possible to make a series about Du-woo's world.
"I thought about it carefully and wrote the entire story of what happened in those 10 days in eight episodes. Kim Sung Cheol tried to understand the world of Du Woo well and become that kind of character," he said with satisfaction.
Regarding singing the ending song "Two," he said, "I wrote the lyrics before filming. I had been writing them down for a year when inspiration struck me. I saw the movie screened in Berlin.
When I was in the middle of the day, I thought I had to have a song. When I got home, I decided on the lyrics and wrote a song. I found out that Kim Sung Cheol was singing well in musicals, but didn't like singing because he wasn't a singer.
"I asked her carefully. I gave her some hints and she said it seemed okay, so she sang it," he explained. The film "Breaking Fruit" is currently being shown in Korean cinemas to rave reviews.
