Kim Moon-soo, South Korea's People Power Party presidential candidate, tearfully appealed, "The honor of former President Park Geun-hye must be restored."
Candidate Kim Moon-soo made these remarks in front of the birthplace of the late President Park Chung-hee in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, on the 24th. He also said, "Tonight,
"I will be meeting with former President Park Geun-hye in Dalseong County, Daegu," he said, adding, "Former President Park Geun-hye has been impeached and her house has been taken away. It is heartbreaking."
He continued, "Former President Park Geun-hye killed her father (former President Park Chung-hee) and mother (wife Yuk Young-soo) with assassins.
"Former President Park Chung-hee created a country where all 50 million people can live in prosperity, but he couldn't even protect his daughter," he said, adding, "The reality of the Republic of Korea is so painful."
He also praised the industrialization achievements of former President Park Chung-hee. Candidate Kim Moon-soo said, "Former President Park Chung-hee is the world's greatest industrial revolutionary who created the Gumi National Industrial Complex and the new city."
"No country in the history of the world has ever succeeded in eliminating all poverty in such a short period of time through an industrial revolution," he said.
Candidate Kim Moon-soo has previously been involved in student and labor movements and supported former President Park Chung-hee.
"I, who gave a speech criticizing former President Park Chung-hee, now offer my highest praise," said Kim Moon-soo. "Even as I grow older and older, I want to thank him for creating miracles."
He also apologized to the people for the pain caused by the December 3 emergency martial law imposed by former President Yoon Seok-yeol.
The vice president said, "With the recent martial law and impeachment, business is difficult. I understand that it is a tough situation for you. There are many things I did wrong. I will make the Republic of Korea even greater with the spirit of former President Park Chung-hee."
