In a recent interview with Herald POP at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Songpa-gu, Seoul, director Lee Seongjong reminisced about filming with the late Kim Sae Ron.
Initially, director Lee Seongjong cast the late Kim Sae Ron, who caused problems with Drunk Driving, as "Guitar Man" and garnered hot topics.
On this day, director Lee Seong-jung said, "My manager is a friend of the late Kim Sae Ron, so he proposed to me. We met at a cafe.
I was surprised to see that he had carefully read the script. He had prepared everything as if he had it all memorized. He even asked me if he could give me some ideas for the script. His passion was amazing.
"After the final rehearsal, we all went to lunch, and it seemed like we were going to have a beer or something. She had already taken a picture of it and sent it to someone.
"She was worried that someone might take a picture of her and upload it somewhere, and I felt bad for her," the director added.
She would help out and try to carry things, and would even approach the supporting actors and joke around. I thought she was a bright and considerate girl. When she wasn't filming, she was mostly in the car and seemed anxious about everything.
"He looked so distressed and I felt sorry for him," he said. "Some people have tried to stop the release of the film. If we're not careful, people will start saying things like, 'Are they using a dead person?'
Many people were worried that I might be in trouble. But I have nothing to be ashamed of, so I didn't think it would be a problem. I had been planning to release it in May even before I heard the sad news, and I wanted to live the way I wanted to.
"I'm a very sensitive person, so I decided to go ahead with the release," he emphasized. The late Kim Sae Ron's posthumous work "Guitar Man" will be released in Korea on the 30th.
