Cho Kuk, chairman of the Fatherland Reform Party, said, ”Summon Kim Kun-hee's wife for investigation... If she doesn't, we will join forces with the Democratic Party to push for a special investigation” (South Korea)
Cho Kuk, chairman of the Fatherland Reform Party, held a press conference to end the prosecutor's dictatorship early with the proportional representation winners in front of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office in Seocho-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 11th.
Cho demanded that the Supreme Prosecutor's Office in Seocho-gu, Seoul immediately summon him for an investigation into the allegations of stock price manipulation and the transfer of designer bags.
He said that if the prosecution rejects this, he will work with the opposition camp to push for a comprehensive special prosecution bill for Kim Kun-hee's wife.
"They must be well aware that they are not related to the company. They must have seen the public's reaction," he said. "The prosecution has already confirmed that Kim and her mother, Choi Woong-seong, are involved in a German motor company.
I know that Kim made 2.3 billion won (about 257 million yen) in profits from the stock price manipulation case. All of Kim's accomplices were punished. Why didn't the prosecution summon Kim for questioning and then investigate her?
Regarding the controversy over the gift bag exchange, Cho said, "If it's a case of secretly taking secret photos, we will summon and investigate those involved and punish them. Mrs. Kim will also be prosecuted for illegal solicitations and money/gifts.
"We must investigate whether the law prohibiting the transfer of assets was violated," he said. "If the prosecution does not follow the people's orders, we will introduce the 'Kim Kun-hee's Wife Comprehensive Special Prosecution Act' as soon as the 22nd National Assembly opens.
"We will consult with the Democratic Party and move forward swiftly. If the prosecution does not launch an investigation, Mrs. Kim will be summoned for questioning by the special counsel," he warned.
In the 22nd National Assembly election (general election held on April 10), the proportional representation party, the Fatherland Reform Party, secured 12 seats.
