Russia protests sanctions against South Korean ambassador Lee Do-hoon - South Korean media

The Russian ambassador protested to Lee, saying, "The sanctions against Russian individuals and corporations are unfriendly measures." He added, "Russia will never accept illegal measures based on groundless accusations," and "We will continue to cooperate with the Korean Peninsula and take appropriate measures to resolve the tensions."
Prior to this, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 2nd of this month that it had investigated two Russian ships and an IT company involved in transporting military supplies to North Korea.
The South Korean government announced that it would include two Russian organizations and two individuals involved in the dispatch of North Korean workers, including human resources, as targets of its own sanctions.
Although the government stated that these measures were “independent sanctions against North Korea,” they are in fact being accepted as “independent sanctions against Russia.”
On the 3rd of this month (local time), the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also teased that Russia would retaliate against South Korea's unilateral sanctions.
At a regular press conference on the 3rd, Foreign Ministry spokesman Haroa said that the independent sanctions measures taken by the South Korean government in response to North Korea's violation of UN Security Council sanctions resolutions against North Korea "will have an impact on the relationship between the two countries."
"This is an unfriendly measure that will have a detrimental effect on Japan-China relations."
