Biden's first appointment... Giants as "COVID coordinator" as new secretary's chief of staff
US President Biden has appointed economic expert Jeff Giants, former White House COVID-19 virus response coordinator, as his new chief of staff.

President Biden announced on January 27th (local time) through a statement that "It is the job of Giants to create a government that works for the American people", and officially announced the selection of the secretary-general. The White House will hold an Official Departure and Inauguration Ceremony for the Chief of Staff next week.

New chief secretary Giants was Biden's presidential transition committee co-chair. After the inauguration of the Biden administration, he served as COVID-19 virus coordinator and presidential advisor to oversee the response to the COVID-19 virus until April 2022. He effectively led the effort to vaccinate against the COVID-19 virus across the country and played a role in transforming the government's response to the endemic.

He first held public office during the Obama administration, when President Biden was in office as Vice President. He has held positions such as Deputy Director of the White House Office of Budget Management (OMB) and Chairman of the National Economic Commission (NEC).
