China warns of second wave of COVID-19 coming this winter: Chinese coverage
Across China, there are warnings about a 'second wave' of the COVID-19 virus this winter.

In Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, as the Lunar New Year holidays approached, people moved more and more people returned to rural areas, resulting in small-scale infections around the Lunar New Year.

Therefore, before the Lunar New Year, each district of Shaoxing issued a notice to "minimize unnecessary outings" and "the elderly and those with serious underlying diseases should refrain from going out."

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, said that after the city reached its first wave peak around December 29th, the infection situation in the city had stabilized, but before the Chinese New Year, the first wave of infections occurred. We are expecting a second wave.

Officials in Shandong Province have revealed that the second wave of the virus began around January 10th and that the number of infected people will continue to increase until the Lunar New Year holidays. He also said a "third wave" would come in mid-February to March, after people returned to work after the holidays.

"Many provinces have reached peak infections (of the first wave), and some areas are already on the decline," said Liang Wannian, director of China's National Health Commission, in a recent interview.

"We can't rule out the possibility of a second or third wave due to the Lunar New Year movement," he said.
