72 years after Korean War...anti-American rally in North Korea is resumed for the first time in 5 years
Anti-American rallies were held one after another in North Korea, celebrating the 72nd anniversary of the Korean War (6/25 war), which North Korea claims to be the "Victorious War".

The Korean Central News Agency reported on June 25th, "On June 25th, ahead of the day of the anti-American struggle, several groups held an anti-American rally on 24th."

According to the newsletter, the speakers at the Youth Student Association said, "At this time, they (the United States) is crazy about war exercises. If the United States forgets the lessons of history and brings the flames of war, it will be ruthlessly punished."

Agricultural workers' meetings and meetings attended by executives of the Socialist Women's Alliance were also held in various places.

The Rodong Sinmun, a Labor Party newspaper, also reported that multiple rallies were held.

In an article entitled "The Guardianship of the Homeland in the 1950s is the Weapon of the Eternal Winning of Korea," the day of the outbreak of the Korean War was "The day that the United States ignited the fire line of the war, and the day that they gave our people misery and pain."

It continued, "The challenges that lay on our way forward are literally unheard of," and emphasized that "we are even more desperate to live and struggle in the spirit of homeland protection of the 1950s."

According to the Korean Central Broadcasting Committee, workers and students are continuing to "visit the graves of the dead in the Victorious War Museum" all over the country.

It is the first time in five years since 2017 that North Korea held an anti-American rally around June 25th.

In the past, North Korea has designated the period from June 25th, when the Korean War broke out, to July 27th, the date of the armistice agreement, as "Anti-American Joint Struggle Month" and held a large-scale rally every year to denounce the United States.

However, the first US-North summit meeting was held in Singapore in June 2018, and no anti-American rally was held that year, and this trend was maintained until last year. It seems that there was also influence of COVID-19 virus infection.

Some say that the anti-American rally was resumed this year in order to unite the system in the context of a “strong vs. strong” frontal match aimed at the United States and South Korea.

“We are trying to unite the system by instilling caution against the United States through a crowd rally that mobilized residents,” said Yang Mu-jin, vice president of North Korean Graduate University.
