Ministry of Unification "North Korea may announce COVID-19 crisis resolution during June"
The Ministry of Unification of South Korea announced on June 13th that North Korea, which had declared a state of emergency for the COVID-19 virus, may announce "COVID-19 virus crisis resolution" later on June.

On the same day, a spokesman for the Ministry of Unification, Cho Jun-hun, said in a question and answer session at a regular briefing, "If you look only at the announcement of North Korea, you can judge that the COVID-19 virus situation is improving", and "If this trend of announcements continues, North Korea may announce that the COVID-19 virus crisis has been resolved by the end of June."

This is because the number suspected of being infected with the COVID-19 virus in North Korea has decreased to the 30,000 level, and the number of deaths is still 1 or 0.

On this day, North Korea's Korean Central News Agency quoted the National Emergency Prevention Headquarters, and from 6:00am on June 11th, 36,710 new fever cases occurred nationwide for 24 hours, and 42,650 people were completely cured. Statistics on new deaths and cumulative deaths and case fatality rates were not disclosed.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Unification commented on the results of June 8th Congress of the Workers' Party Central Committee's 8th General Assembly Expansion Meeting, which lasted for 3 days from 8th, saying, "While maintaining the domestic and foreign strategic tone revealed at the 8th Party Congress, they evaluated the achievements of each field so far, and presented the future promotion direction."

They continued, "We reaffirmed our existing strong basic position on overseas routes to the South, but since we did not mention specific matters, we need to keep an eye on the additional follow-up trends of North Korea."

"The government cannot tolerate all of North Korea's actions that threaten the peace of the Korean Peninsula, and will take decisive action with close cooperation between Korea and the United States in the event of an additional provocation," said Cho. As we have done, we are ready to discuss all North-South issues through dialogue and encourage North Korea to respond."
