Why will Korean Air start weighing passengers from Aug 28th?
Korean Air (003490) plans to start weighing passengers on domestic flights at Gimpo Airport on August 28th.

According to Korean Air, on the 19th, according to the notification of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the standard weight measurement of passengers, including carry-on luggage, will be carried out at the airport. The domestic flights at Gimpo Airport will run from September 28th to September 6th, and the international flights at Incheon Airport will run from September 8th to 19th.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's "Aircraft Weight and Balance Control Standards," airlines must measure the standard weight of passengers at least every five years or as needed to calculate the average value. Along with this, Korean Air passengers will be weighed in front of the boarding gate along with their carry-on luggage. This data is collected anonymously and used as data for safe operation. If you do not wish to be measured, you can tell the staff when you board.

Prior to this, the 2017 survey set a standard of 81 kg for adult men and 69 kg for adult women in the summer season. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recommends 88.4kg for adult men and 70.3kg for adult women.
