<Interview> Singer Jung EuGene, winner of the ”Active King of Songs”, expresses his high expectations and support for the Japan-Korea King of Songs match
We met Jung EuGene, who won MBN TV's signature survival program "Active Singer King," at the media center Gwanak in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, ahead of the Japan-Korea Singer King match.
I asked him about his feelings and goals. Q. Please briefly introduce yourself. A. Hello, I'm Jung EuGene, a singer. Pohang City, Gyeongsangbuk-do
I was a second year high school student when I lived there and appeared on the show, but this year I became a third year student. Q. How did you decide to appear on “Active Singer King” and what were your initial goals? A.
I appeared on an audition program three years ago, but I was very young and didn't seem to have prepared enough. After a disappointing performance, I feel extremely angry and heartbroken at myself.
I've been steadily accumulating experience on shows and stages while worrying about it, and I've been working hard to grow further, but I thought I'd try to examine it. Also, I will always support you.
I decided to appear in order to give back to my fans by showing them various stages. To tell you the truth, at first I couldn't even think about the top 7 and thought, ``I just wasn't satisfied with myself.''
I wanted to leave a stage where I could do better, but I was able to win the championship, something I never expected. I still can't believe it. Q.
How do you feel about winning, and what are your feelings and preparations ahead of the showdown with the Japanese team? A.
Since I was able to win the championship among such great seniors, I think it is urgent that I continue to work hard and grow further. And now, the biggest burden is the Korea-Japan match. Korea through the Korea-Japan war
I think Korean singers will be introduced not only to my country but also to Japan, but since I am number 1 in Korea, I will show a good stage that Japanese viewers will have to admit when they see it. I have to
I have a sense of mission. Q. I heard that filming will begin in March. What is the status of preparations? A. I've been having trouble choosing songs that people will like not only in Korea but also in Japan.
I continue to worry about showing a different side from when I was in ``King of Songs''. The record is scheduled for March 2nd and 15th in Korea. I heard that they are recruiting cheering teams from both Korea and Japan.
It's the first time that singers from both countries will compete together, so I'm both excited and nervous. We hope that many people will come and watch our great stage performance and support us.
It's beautiful. By the way, the representative of "Trot Girls Japan" who will come to Korea was decided after the live broadcast last Friday (23rd). And just the day before yesterday, I and other members of the
The top seven members of "King of Songs" went to Japan and met with the representatives. I was really surprised. Please check the reason on the broadcast (lol) Q.
With this win, you will now be active in Korea and Japan, but what are your preparations like and do you have any plans for a full-fledged expansion into Japan? A.
I can't give any specifics yet, but I'm planning to prepare one thing at a time from what I can show you. As of now, it seems that the Korea-Japan Song King match is the beginning of this.It is also scheduled to be broadcast in Japan.
I'm nervous about what kind of reaction it will get. I think that if they were loved in Japan, they would naturally have a chance to expand into Japan. Q.
Do you also prepare Japanese songs? A. We would like to introduce not only good Korean trot songs to Japan for the Korea-Japan Singing Championship, but also famous Japanese songs and performances.
We are also preparing songs. It's really difficult to learn another language, but I'm practicing while cutting back on my sleep to get a good stage. Q. Can you speak Japanese? A.
My second foreign language at school was Japanese, so I'm learning it, but I'm not good enough to have a conversation with it yet. I can do a simple greeting. thank you.
Q. How did you feel when you came in 12th place in the first round and were eliminated, but fortunately you made it through to the finals in the repechage match? A. I really wanted to quit. I have to hurry and get ready in 30 minutes.
It was a tough stage, and I was feeling desperate as I watched the girls preparing together, thinking I was going to fail, but I think my earnest feelings came through. try hard and prepare
It would be really great if we could get good results, but battle stages don't always work like that, so it's tough. Q. You received a total of 335,924 votes during real-time email voting in the final round.
You scored a total of 4,832 points, but how did you feel when you and MayJin heard the final results? A. Actually, I was shaking so much that I didn't realize what was going on. MayJin
I also did a duet mission with my sister, and MayJin-san taught me a lot of details. He is a kind person who always cares about the people around him. May
I really hoped that Jin would do well. When my name was called, I felt sorry for my sister, I felt happy, and I felt a heavy sense of responsibility.
I had mixed feelings about it. Q. I received a prize of 100 million won and a new song written by famous composer Kim Jung Hwan, but did I receive the song?
Will it be made public and how will the prize money be used? A. Kim Jung Hwan's new song has not yet been received, and the prizes are arriving one by one. I received a massage chair the other day.
However, I sent it to my grandmother's house, who taught me how to trot, and she was very happy about it. I haven't received the prize money yet, but I don't think I received it on my own.
. I want to give back to everyone, including my parents and fans, who have worked so hard for me. Also, since I have to go to university, I plan to use the money for university tuition fees. Q.
What is your favorite song? A. I listen to a lot of different things, and while I was working as a singer, I searched for and listened to a lot of old Japanese songs. Hibari Misora's "Like the flow of a river" and "Life's path"
I also like I like Korean music from the 70s and 80s, and I think it fits well with my sensibilities, but I would like to get closer to Cho Mimi's musical sensibilities. Q.
A message to the fans and viewers waiting in Japan: A. I'm happy to meet you. I believe that Korea and Japan have different languages and cultural differences.
vinegar. Even so, I think music is something that allows us to empathize with each other. I'm still young and have a lot to offer, but I want to use my sensibilities to convey healing to Japan. Fun and wonderful stay
I'm going to talk about it a lot, so I hope you'll listen to it a lot and take care of it. Thank you for your interest and support! Q. “Active King of Songs” What are your plans and dreams for activities after the Japan-Korea match?
A. School starts in March, and I'm already starting my life as a third-year high school student, but I'll try not to neglect my studies while pursuing my singing career. If I have a chance, I will show a good stage in Japan as well.
It would be an honor to be able to serve as a cultural bridge between Korea and Japan.
