Hongjoong, the leader of the group ATEEZ, graces the cover of the December issue of the magazine SINGLES JAPAN, releasing a photo spread and interview.
This is his first exclusive photoshoot since his contract renewal. He spoke candidly about his love for his fans, ATINY, and his plans for the future.
Hongjoong is the first K-pop boy group to achieve the same feat as ATEEZ, including first place on the Billboard 200 and making it onto the UK Official Album Chart.
Regarding his global achievements, such as appearing at Coachella, he said, "These records are a gift created by the support of my fans," and added, "In return, I want to become an artist who does not shame my fans."
ATEEZ, celebrating their 7th anniversary since their debut, has confirmed their team renewal and opened the second chapter of their journey. Hongjoong said about his sense of responsibility as a leader, "Right now, I'm not the one choosing, but the one who is in charge of the members.
"I felt that I had to be the one to take responsibility for the choices the band made," he said, adding, "I'll start the next seven years by resetting myself with the mindset of debuting again."
He explained that he recently debuted his personal fashion collection, "Petit Coussin," in celebration of his birthday.
The collection's departure point was the experience of visiting Balmain's Olivier Rousteing's workshop during Paris Fashion Week three years ago.
He continued, "Through creating my own collection, I have come to respect designers even more. The stimulation I gained in this new field has been a great source of strength."
Looking back on this year, Hongjoong said, "It was an important year as we finished a long tour and opened a new page. It was a fulfilling year for both my team and myself."
He said about his fandom "ATINY," "They are the ones who help me endure the tough times. It still feels like a dream that I have fans who have been with me for seven years."
