日韓の農林省次官が初の「定期対話」…「実質協力を通じて相互競争力を高める」
Japan and South Korea Vice Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry Hold First Regular Dialogue... ”Enhancing Mutual Competitiveness through Substantial Cooperation”
South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said, "Vice Minister Kang Hyun-suk met with Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Counselor, Yoichi Watanabe, at the '1st Korea-Japan Agriculture Vice-Minister Regular Dialogue' held in Seoul on the 27th."
The talks were held on the occasion of the Japan-China-Korea Agriculture Ministers' Meeting in August this year, when Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Song Mi-ryong met with Prime Minister Shinjiro Koizumi.
This was made possible by a meeting with the then Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, who agreed to establish a channel for regular high-level dialogue. The two countries agreed to work together on common issues such as agricultural technology cooperation and food security.
After sharing information on the current state of policy and exchanging ideas on solutions to problems, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding committing to continuing regular dialogue.
Vice Minister Kang said, "Korea and Japan share similar agricultural structures and challenges, and we will work together to improve each other's competitiveness and
"We hope that this meeting will be a starting point for broadening the scope of agricultural cooperation between the two countries," he said.
