China opposes Japan's missile deployment plan on islands near Taiwan

The conflict between Japan and China, which was triggered by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's remarks about "intervening in the event of an emergency in Taiwan," appears to be escalating into a clash over Japan's "plan to deploy missiles around Taiwan."
At a regular press conference on the 24th, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry responded to a question about Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi's visit to Ishigaki Island and Yonaguni Island and his mention of defense plans such as the deployment of medium-range missiles.

Ishigaki Island, which Defense Minister Koizumi visited, is located about 240 kilometers from Taiwan, and Yonaguni Island, Japan's westernmost island, is only 110 kilometers from Taiwan, making it extremely difficult to reach.
Japan has already established Self-Defense Force bases on these islands, with a view to the possibility of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan or other emergencies.
Ishigaki Island is the closest Japanese missile base to Taiwan and is also a potential threat to the country in the event of a Chinese invasion.
A Japan Ground Self-Defense Force base has been established on Yonaguni Island with a "Taiwan emergency" in mind, and additional anti-aircraft electronic warfare units to jam enemy aircraft radar are scheduled to be deployed.
On the 23rd, Defense Minister Koizumi stated that the plan to deploy medium-range missiles on Yonaguni Island was based on the security of the island itself and the possibility of Japan being attacked.
