China's total retail sales of consumer goods rose 2.9% year-on-year in October: Chinese media
According to data recently released by the National Bureau of Statistics, China's total retail sales of consumer goods in October increased 2.9% year-on-year to 4.6291 trillion yen (approximately 100.6 trillion yen).
Retail sales of consumer goods excluding automobiles increased by 4.0% to 4.2036 trillion yen (approximately 91.3 trillion yen). In addition, the total retail sales of social consumer goods for the first 10 months of this year increased by 4.3% compared to the same period last year.
Retail sales of consumer goods excluding automobiles increased 4.9% to 37.216 trillion yen (approximately 808.5 trillion yen).
Looking at retail sales of consumer goods by location of business establishments, urban areas increased by 2.7% year-on-year in October and rural areas increased by 4.1% year-on-year. For January to October, urban areas increased by 4.2% year-on-year and rural areas increased by 4.6% year-on-year.
Looking at the breakdown of consumption, in October, retail sales of goods increased by 2.8% to 4,109.2 billion yen (approximately 89.3 trillion yen), and restaurant income increased by 3.8% to 519.9 billion yen (approximately 11.3 trillion yen).
From January to October, retail sales of merchandise increased 4.4% to 36.5981 trillion yen (approximately 794.9 trillion yen), and restaurant revenue increased 3.3% to 4.6188 trillion yen (approximately 100.3 trillion yen).
Meanwhile, nationwide online retail sales from January to October increased by 9.6% to 12.7916 trillion yen (approximately 277.8 trillion yen). Of this, sales of physical goods increased by 6.3%.
The total retail sales of social consumer goods was 10.3984 trillion yen (approximately 225.8 trillion yen), accounting for 25.2% of the total retail sales of social consumer goods. Of the online retail sales of physical goods, food accounted for 15.1%, clothing 3.6%, and Japanese
Supplies increased by 5.1%.
