AI fraud discovered at Seoul University, prompting re-exams... University says ”not a collective act” = South Korea
As suspicions of large-scale exam cheating using artificial intelligence (AI) have arisen at South Korea's Yonsei University and Korea University, similar cheating has been uncovered at Seoul National University.
Seoul National University announced on the 12th that it had found evidence that some students had used AI to solve problems in the mid-term exam for the liberal arts subject "Statistics Experiments" held last month.
This lecture is a liberal arts course offered at the College of Natural Sciences at Seoul National University, and is a face-to-face lecture with approximately 30 students. The mid-term exam was also conducted face-to-face using the computers installed in the lecture room.
The school reportedly notified students in advance not to use AI in exams. Seoul National University said, "We have decided to hold a re-exam for the class in question. However, we have not received any information on collective cheating."
"It has not been observed and is considered a personal deviation," he said. Similar cases have been reported in Yonsei University's "Natural Language Processing and ChatGPT" course and Korea University's large-scale online class.
In the liberal arts subject "Multifaceted Understanding of an Aging Society," numerous cases of fraud involving the use of AI have been uncovered in the past.
