Is it wrong for a director who produced a music video for a singer to post the video on his own YouTube channel?
On the 11th (today), the 62nd Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court announced that the Korean girl group "NewJeans"
The ADOR office raised these issues and held a hearing for the damages lawsuit it filed against director Shin Woo-suk and the advertising production company he represents, Dolphin Kidnapping Group.
Director Shin is the person who produced the music video for NewJeans' "ETA." He posted the edited version of the music video on the Dolphin Kidnapping Group's YouTube channel.
However, in September last year, ADOR filed a lawsuit demanding 1.1 billion won (approximately 110 million yen), claiming that "it was illegal for Director Shin to release the footage without consultation and permission."
On this day, formerADOR's CEO Min Hee Jin appeared in court as a witness for the dolphin kidnapping group, drawing attention. Min Hee Jin, CEO of formerADOR, said that the music video director had posted a picture of himself on his SNS account.
He said that posting images is generally accepted in the industry, adding, "It's an industry where verbal negotiations are the norm." Minformer also said that directors often post videos on social media to gain publicity.
ADOR also claimed that if the director's cut were uploaded to the Dolphin Kidnapping Group's channel, ADOR's YouTube channel's revenue would decrease and damages would be incurred.
Regarding the claim that "the virus will be generated," he drew a line at the claim, saying, "It is a ridiculous and ridiculous claim." When the court pointed out, "Please refrain from using such expressions," he immediately replied, "Such a channel
"Once posted on twitter, it becomes open to a wide range of consumers," he said, adding that he used such language without understanding the meaning.
Regarding this, ADOR stated that MV-related matters are important contracts and should be agreed in writing.
The company also argued that the "ETA" music video was produced in collaboration with Apple, and that Apple's consent was needed to post the video.
He said that this process was necessary and pointed out that the photos were posted without permission.
