Opposition leader criticizes ”abandonment of appeal in Daejang-dong case”... ”It will be grounds for impeachment of President Lee” = South Korea

The group also said that the order was given by President Lee Jae-myung and that it was an abuse of power and grounds for impeachment.
In his opening remarks at the Supreme Committee meeting held in Seoul, he said, "In the biggest development fraud case since Dangun (the founding deity of Korea), partial acquittal was made, and 400,000,000 won (approximately 82 billion yen) of development fraud was discovered."
Despite the false claim that the amount was 100 million won (approximately 4.2 million yen), the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office intervened and stopped the appeal in the Daejang-dong case," he said, adding, "The light of justice in the Republic of Korea has gone out, and democracy has disappeared into darkness.
Chang said, "740 billion won was put into the pockets of the Daejang-dong organization to keep quiet, and the appeal was abandoned for 740 billion won."
"This is the worst extra-investigative and extra-judicial pressure since Dangun. It is a clear abuse of power and grounds for impeachment," he said. Chang also said that a national investigation and a special prosecutor's investigation into this case will be conducted.
He added, "President Lee criticized the prosecution's appeal at the Cabinet meeting on October 30th because he had previously ordered the abandonment of the appeal, and Justice Minister Jeong Seong-ho also gave instructions to abandon the appeal.
"Because Kim Byung-ki, floor leader of the ruling Democratic Party, has agreed, we will conduct a national investigation and a special prosecutor's investigation. This will ultimately lead to impeachment," he said.
