Seoul city to increase subway service and centralize bus allocation on the day of the College Scholastic Aptitude Test (13th) - South Korea
Seoul City will increase subway service and emergency transport services on the day of the 2026 College Scholastic Ability Examination (Suneung, equivalent to Japan's Common Test for University Admissions) to accommodate students taking the exam on the 13th of this month.
The government announced that it has taken comprehensive measures to improve transportation, including providing free transportation support and creating a comfortable traffic environment around the test centers. This year, 114,158 test takers took the test at 228 test centers in the Seoul area.
Candidates can enter the designated examination venue from 6:30 to 8:10. Seoul City is planning to schedule the examinations to prevent candidates from arriving late due to traffic congestion on the day of the exam.
The city, district and public offices have decided to adjust the arrival time to 10 a.m., one hour later than usual. The Seoul Subway has decided to adjust the arrival time to 10 a.m., taking into consideration test takers and office workers who will be arriving late to work on the day of the exam to ease traffic congestion.
In consideration of this, the number of buses will be increased by 29 from the usual number and will be concentrated between 6:00 and 10:00 a.m. In addition to the entrance time of test takers, city and village buses will also take into consideration the time of return home after the test.
The company has adjusted the time for dispatching vehicles, and plans to operate vehicles between 6:00 AM and 8:10 AM and between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM on the day of the test, while maintaining minimum intervals between vehicles.
In addition, staff at subway stations adjacent to the test center and bus drivers who travel around the test center will be required to wear face coverings when entering the center.
To ensure that test takers can arrive safely at the test center on time, the government has decided to proactively provide information about the test center location. Information about the test center will be posted at subway stations adjacent to the test center, and announcements will be made over the public address system.
The plan is to guide people to the exits in the direction of the exam venue and make announcements to encourage them. In the autonomous region, 646 private and public vehicles with signs indicating "Exam Taker Transport Support Vehicles" will be deployed at subway stations, bus stops, and other major roads near the exam venues.
The plan is to wait at busy intersections and provide free transportation to test-takers who are likely to be late to the test center. In addition to providing transportation support, Seoul City is also providing staff at the test center to help test-takers concentrate on the test in a quiet atmosphere.
The government plans to temporarily halt inspections and construction work that may cause noise in the vicinity, and to crack down on illegally parked vehicles around schools and subway stations within a two-kilometer radius of the test site.
