”The First Ride” tops Korean box office for four consecutive days after release thanks to Cha Eun Woo's ”APEC appearance effect”
The film First Ride has topped the box office for four consecutive days since its release, thanks to the "APEC appearance effect" of Cha Eun Woo.
According to the Film Promotion Committee's integrated computerised network of cinema ticket sales, First Ride attracted 96,313 viewers on the 1st, overtaking Chainsaw Man: The Movie - Raze to take the top spot at the overall box office for the fourth consecutive day. The cumulative audience reached 282,854. Compared to the 48,501 viewers on the previous day, the 96,313 recorded on the 1st was nearly double. The "Cha Eun Woo effect" appears to have had a significant impact on box office sales.
After its release, it ranked first at the box office every day, but First Ride, which had begun to slow down, is once again attracting attention thanks to Cha Eun Woo, who appeared as the host at the APEC Leaders' Welcome Dinner held in Gyeongju on the 31st, becoming a hot topic around the world. Seeing Cha Eun Woo's visuals on screen, posts titled "Testimonials to Cha Eun Woo's beauty" have been appearing on various social media sites, attracting a lot of attention.
The film 'First Ride', which is struggling in the off-season theatre district, is gaining word-of-mouth popularity as a film that can be enjoyed together in the theatre by all generations, including students, friends, lovers and families, thanks to its theme of friendship and its story that encompasses teenagers to those in their thirties.
Meanwhile, the film 'First Ride' features Tae-joong (Kang Ha-neul), a man who sees things through to the end, the innocent Do-jin (Kim Young-kwang), the handsome Yeon-min (Cha Eun Woo), the ever-playful Geum-bok (Kang Yong-suk), and the adorable Ok-sim (Han Seon-ah).
It is currently showing to rave reviews in South Korea.
