日韓外交長官会談…「日本新内閣発足後も安定的関係発展」

South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun met with Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu on the occasion of the APEC Joint Ministerial Meeting on Foreign Affairs and Trade held in Gyeongju on the 29th.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including bilateral relations, the Korean Peninsula issue, and regional and global cooperation.
In particular, the two ministers recognized that the importance of Japan-ROK relations is increasing day by day amid the severe international situation, and appreciated the swift holding of the first Foreign Ministers' Meeting immediately after the inauguration of the new Japanese Cabinet.
The two ministers also agreed to work together to enhance the quality of substantive cooperation between the two countries through active communication at all levels, and to ensure the stable development of Japan-ROK relations.
The two ministers also exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula issue and regional and global cooperation measures. Minister Cho emphasized that the two sides must work together to achieve peaceful coexistence and common development on the Korean Peninsula through the easing of military tensions and the restoration of trust.
Following the Japan-Korea Foreign Ministers' Meeting, U.S. Secretary of State Marcos Benjamin Lee Rubio attended the Japan-U.S. Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
