Walmart and OpenAI partner to enable shopping within ChatGPT

American consumers will be able to purchase Walmart products through ChatGPT, a generative artificial intelligence (AI).

announced that it has partnered with OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, to build an AI-powered shopping experience.
He explained that customers will be able to use the AI chatbot's "instant payment" function within GPT to purchase Walmart products directly.
The company says, "Whether it's planning meals, checking grocery inventory, or discovering new products,
"Even in this situation, customers can easily shop through chat with ChatGPT, and Walmart will handle the rest of the process," he said. No specific date for when the service will be available has been mentioned.
"For the past few years, the e-commerce shopping experience has consisted of a search box and a long list of products," said Doug McMillon, Walmart chairman and CEO.
"That's about to change. Multimedia-based, personalized, contextual AI experiences are on the horizon."
OpenAI first announced the "instant payment" feature within ChatGPT at the end of last month.
Walmart has announced a partnership with the commerce platform Shopify. Recently, as companies are using AI to reduce costs, Walmart is also expanding its use of AI.
Walmart's generative AI "Sparky" is a prime example. Sparky provides various functions such as product recommendations and review summaries in its app.

He added that recommended traffic accounts for less than 1% of Walmart's overall traffic.
