映画「仕方ない」パク・チャヌク監督、ソン・イェジンに対して「微妙な表現のプロ…イ・ビョンホンより難しかったはずなのに」と絶賛
Director Park Chan-wook of the film ”It Can't Be Done” praises Song Ye-jin, saying, ”She's a master of subtle expressions... It must have been more difficult for her than Lee Byung-hun.”
Director Park Chan-wook was generous with his praise for actress Son Ye-jin.

Director Park Chan-wook first hit it off with Son Ye-jin through his new film 'No Other Choice'. It was Son Ye-jin's first comeback since getting married and giving birth, so it quickly generated buzz.

Furthermore, Son Ye-jin's role as "Miri" in the film was originally supposed to be minor in the original script, but director Park Chan-wook increased it for Son Ye-jin.

In a recent interview with Herald POP held at a cafe in Seogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, director Park Chan-wook looked back on filming with Son Ye-jin.

On the same day, director Park Chan-wook said, "When I was adapting the film, I wanted to portray Miri as someone who is more optimistic, active, and realistic, yet also has a mischievous side to her." He added, "I wanted to portray her as someone who doesn't get discouraged when she hears that her husband has lost his job, but rather has the strength to encourage him."

He continued, "Man-soo (Lee Byung-hun) is physically busy and faces many extreme situations, so he can express himself through his actions. In contrast, Miri mostly stays at home, and if you could call her that she does anything, it would be a little bit of idle time or talking on the phone, and she mostly just sits still. Son Ye-jin has taken on a much more difficult character."

He added, "In the end, Son Ye-jin has to express everything with subtle changes in facial expression and intonation, but her emotions are not as good as Man-soo's, and she is placed in a complex situation with an enormous dilemma." He emphasized, "Like Lee Byung-hun, she is a more difficult character because there are fewer means to express difficult things."

Director Park Chan-wook also praised Son Ye-jin, saying, "I think she really showed what an expert she is at expressing subtlety in that regard." He added, "Not only did she do a great job on set, but she also worked like a demon during the dubbing. Her ability to express subtle things so delicately and to do it so skillfully, as befits a talented person, is the result of long practice and preparation, and I was amazed."

Meanwhile, Park Chan-wook's 'No Other Choice' tells the story of Man-soo, a company employee who was so satisfied with his life that he felt he had "accomplished everything," who, after being suddenly fired, begins his own battle to find new employment in order to protect his wife and two children and the home he had worked so hard to build. The film is currently receiving rave reviews in Korea.
