A report was received that someone appeared to have fallen from above. The Coast Guard, which was dispatched to the scene, discovered a car parked on the road near the bridge's main tower, and a suicide note was found inside the car.
The Coast Guard believes the driver jumped into the sea and has deployed three patrol vessels to search the surrounding waters.
Prior to this, on the morning of the 22nd of this month, an SUV was discovered in the same location, and the driver jumped out and died.
A man in his 30s died after jumping into the sea after parking his car. This brings the number of people who have jumped off the Incheon Bridge to death since it opened in 2009 to over 80.
Due to a series of jumping accidents, the Incheon Bridge operator will install plastic drums on the bridge shoulder in November 2022 to prevent vehicles from parking.
Although 1,500 cans were installed, they were all removed last month because they hindered emergency response. However, there has been no progress in installing fundamental fall prevention facilities for nearly two years, and measures are urgently needed.
