As South Korea's ruling Democratic Party celebrates its 70th anniversary, President Lee Jae-myung said, "The past 70 years of the Democratic Party are a glorious history of protecting democracy."
"We have been able to inherit this 70-year history, and we were able to overcome the December 3rd Civil War (last year) and establish the fourth democratic government through the Revolution of Light, all thanks to the dedication of our comrade party members.
At the ceremony to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Party held at the National Assembly on the 19th, Kang Hoon-sik, chief of staff of the Presidential Office, delivered a speech to congratulate President Lee.
Former President Moon Jae-in also sent a video message saying, "The Lee Jae-myung administration, in its fourth term as the Democratic Party leader, has a great mission. We must once again firmly uphold justice."
"We will advance even more vigorously toward a nation where the people are the masters, by establishing a new foundation for the people and improving the quality of life and peace of the nation," he said. "We will all become protagonists together, and work toward the success of the Lee Jae-myung administration and the greater development of Korea."
Let's make a leap forward. Let's build greater glory in the history of the Democratic Party." Chairman Jeong Cheong-rae of the Democratic Party said, "The 70-year history of the Democratic Party is the foundation of Korean democracy itself.
Chairman Chung emphasized, "The 70-year history of the Democratic Party has always been with active, conscientious citizens. Thanks to the people and party members, we have a history of indomitable struggle and overcoming obstacles.
We have been able to write a history, a history of victories."
