映画「国宝」、ことし下半期に韓国公開へ
The film 'Kokuho' will be released in Korea in the second half of this year... Director Lee Sang-il, a third-generation Korean resident in Japan, is also attracting attention.
With 'Kokuho', third-generation Korean director Lee Sang-il became the first Korean director to create a Japanese film that drew over 10 million viewers.

On the 15th of this month, 102 days after its release, 'Kokuho' surpassed 10 million viewers and grossed 14.2 billion yen.

This puts 'Kokuho' in second place among Japanese live-action box office grosses, following 'Bayside Shakedown 2: Close Off Rainbow Bridge!' (2003). It will be interesting to see if it soon surpasses 'Bayside Shakedown 2's box office gross of 17.35 billion yen and becomes the number one Japanese live-action box office grosser.

'Kokuho' directed by Lee Sang-il and based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Shuichi Yoshida, is attracting much attention in Korea. With the world paying tribute to a Korean resident in Japan who has changed the history of Japanese live-action film box office sales, the film has also been selected as Japan's entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards. Incidentally, the Korean entry for the same festival and award was director Park Chan-wook's "Shikaganai."

Meanwhile, 'Kokuho', which is attracting attention for co-starring some of Japan's most famous actors, including Yoshizawa Ryo, Yokohama Ryusei, and Watanabe Ken, will be released in theaters across South Korea in the second half of this year.
