Sado Gold Mine Memorial Ceremony Fails to Mention ”Forced Labor”... South Korean Presidential Office Says ”Appropriate Content and Format Should Be Used”

On the 13th, the South Korean presidential office stated that in response to the Japanese government's failure to mention the "forced labor" of Koreans at the Sado Gold Mine memorial service, "Our government stated that 'the memorial service should be held with content appropriate to its purpose and nature.
After making the above remarks on the same day, a South Korean presidential office official said, "Due to this position,
"We will continue to hold discussions with the Japanese side on this issue," he said. "Although we were unable to reach a satisfactory conclusion this year, we have been able to build mutual trust under the basic stance of 'looking squarely at the past, but moving forward to the future.'
"As we build trust and understanding, the quality of our cooperation, including on historical issues, will also improve," he said.
