12,000 couples flock to Gyeonggi Province's ”Young Couple Support” program (South Korea)

Gyeonggi Province in South Korea is offering 1 million won (approximately 106,500 yen) to 2,650 newlywed couples through the "Gyeonggi Youth Marriage Support Project," and as a result, a total of 10,202
Nine couples applied. The Gyeonggi Youth Marriage Support Project is a citizen participation budget project that was selected after being reviewed by the Youth Policy Coordination Committee based on proposals from youth participation organizations. The application period began on August 1st.
The deadline for applications was the 29th. The conditions for eligibility for applications were that both spouses were "registered residents of Gyeonggi Province," "young people born between January 1, 1985 and December 31, 2006," and "born after January 1, 2025."
"The couple must have filed their marriage registration in 2024 and their combined income in 2024 must be 80 million won (approximately 8.52 million yen) or less."

The final recipients will be selected based on the combined income of married couples for the fiscal year. The 2,650 couples selected will receive 1 million won starting in mid-November.
Kim Seong-hwa, head of the Gyeonggi Province Youth Planning Division, said, "The results of the recruitment show that there is a great demand for social and economic support for young people regarding marriage.
