President Lee shouts ”MASGA”... ”Win-win outcome for the US-Korea shipbuilding industry” = Korea
"We will create a win-win outcome in which the US shipbuilding industry and the Republic of Korea shipbuilding industry will both soar," South Korean President Lee Jae-myung said at a press conference on the 26th (local time) at the US Philharmonic.
He visited the Hanwha Philly Shipyard in Delphia and inspected the construction of the State of Maine, a National Security Multipurpose Vessel (NSMV) ordered by the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD).
The event was a symbolic occasion in which large-scale investment by Korean companies will lead to the revival of the U.S. shipbuilding industry and strengthen maritime security, and it also served as a platform for cooperation between the U.S. and the ROK.
In his speech at the naming ceremony, President Lee said, "Today's departure marks a new beginning for the U.S. and the Republic of Korea shipbuilding industries, creating a win-win situation in which both industries will soar.
"This will be recorded as another chapter in the history of hope and challenge, written with the strong friendship between our two countries," President Lee said.
He also mentioned the history of supporting the United States' maritime hegemony during World War II. "The ships launched here rescued the people of the Republic of Korea during the Korean War. With that support, Korea became a shipbuilding powerhouse," he said.
"Now, the Republic of Korea's shipbuilding industry has embarked on a path to contributing to the revival of the U.S. shipbuilding industry," he said, emphasizing the new expansion of the U.S.-ROK alliance.
President Lee also proposed to President Trump the "MASGA (Make American Shipbuilding)" initiative.
He also mentioned the "Make American Shipbuilding Great Again" project, saying, "This is not just about building a giant warship, but a vision to restore a lost dream."
"With Hanwha Ocean's investment, young people from the United States are flocking to shipyards. In the past, the Korean shipbuilding industry was known as an 'opportunity' for young people.
I hope that the Philly Shipyard will be remembered in the same way by young people in the United States,” he said. Hanwha Group Vice Chairman Kim Dong-kwan, who had given a congratulatory speech earlier, agreed, saying, “This
"This is a concrete example of the investments being made by the United States and South Korea to rebuild the shipbuilding industry, expand shipbuilding capacity, and develop skilled talent to lead the industries of the future," he said.

"Philadelphia has been the city that built the American fleet since 1776," the Pennsylvania governor said.
