Kim Geon-hee's wife summoned for questioning for the fifth time since her arrest on the 27th... indictment imminent (South Korea)
The Special Prosecutor's Office, which is investigating the case involving Kim Gun-hee, the wife of former President Yoon Seok-yeol, summoned Kim for questioning on the 27th.
This is the fifth time he has been summoned for questioning since his arrest on the 12th of this month. The special prosecutor's team is expected to indict Kim within the week after completing their face-to-face questioning.
On the 25th, the special prosecutor's team announced that they would summon Mrs. Kim for questioning at 10 a.m. on the 27th.
On the 6th, the first day after Mrs. Kim was summoned for questioning, an arrest warrant was immediately requested on the 7th. After Mrs. Kim was arrested on the 12th, she was summoned four times on the 14th, 18th, 21st, and 25th.
With his detention period set to expire on the 31st, he will be summoned for questioning for the fifth time since his arrest, and the plan is to indict him as early as the 29th.
Mrs. Kim is accused of violating the Capital Markets Act, the Political Funds Act, and arranging bribery under the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
After arresting Mrs. Kim, the special investigation team is investigating allegations of stock price manipulation at German Motors, allegations of interference with election nominations by political broker Myung Tae-gyun, and bribery of Reverend Kong Jin and the Unification Church.
The investigation into the allegations was carried out. Mrs. Kim attended the special prosecutor's meeting and reportedly exercised her right to refuse to speak on most of the matters. Mrs. Kim was arrested at around 9:36 a.m. on the same day at the KT Club in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
She arrived at the special investigation team's office in Gwanghwamun Building West and was questioned from 10:10 a.m. Mrs. Kim's questioning ended around 3:45 p.m. and she was released at 4:00 p.m.
After reviewing the records from 15 minutes to 4:40 pm, they returned to the Seoul Southern Detention Center. On the same day, the special prosecutor's team also summoned and interrogated monk Jeon Seong-bae, who is a monk known as Kongjin.
Jeon is suspected of attempting to give Mrs. Kim a Chanel bag and an expensive brand necklace at the request of the Unification Church.
He is also accused of receiving money ahead of the election and handing it over to the so-called Yoon Haek-kwan (a key associate of former President Yoon).
