President Lee Jae Myung arrives at the Japanese Prime Minister's residence... Hoping for closer cooperation

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung arrived at the Prime Minister's Office in Tokyo on the 23rd for a summit with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. The summit will be held in the order of a small group meeting and an expanded meeting.
The two leaders will then hold a joint press conference. The main topics of the meeting are expected to be economic and security cooperation. In particular, the focus of the meeting will be on a joint response plan between Japan and South Korea as the US-initiated trade order restructuring has begun in earnest.
There is a high possibility that the two sides will agree on the issue. Some are expecting that the agreement will achieve even greater results than the 1998 Kim Dae-jung and Obuchi Keizo Joint Declaration.
From Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba's perspective, he is inevitably sensitive about historical issues, and there are pending issues such as the import of seafood, so it is unclear whether this will actually come to fruition.
The "Obuchi Keizo" Joint Declaration was issued when former President Kim Dae-jung visited Japan as a state guest in October 1998. At that time, "deep remorse and heartfelt apology"
This was the first time that the Japanese government had issued an official apology.
