The event is drawing attention as it will be the first exclusive performance by K-pop idols to be held in China in nine years since the country imposed its ban on Korean culture.
According to an interview with Edaily on the 20th, the fan concert will be held on September 13th at a hotel in Fuzhou, China, with a seating capacity of 1,000.
"Kep1er" is a member of Mnet's girl group survival program "Girls Planet 999:
A seven-member multinational girl group formed through the "Girls Festival" and debuted in 2022.
The group is managed by Wake One, a subsidiary of CJ ENM, and KLAP Entertainment.
Kep1er will be performing this date as part of their 2025 Kep1er FAN CON Tour. They are scheduled to sing a total of 15 songs.
Prior to this, China had restricted Korean content in July 2016 as a retaliatory measure following the decision to deploy the THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) system by the US military in South Korea.
The government has implemented a "Korean Wave ban" that effectively bans Korean-born K-pop idols from holding concerts in Korea.
Only small events such as fan meetings and fan autographing sessions can be held.
In this situation, Kep1er is attracting attention by holding a "fan concert" that combines a fan meeting and a concert.
In May, the hip-hop group "Homies" performed in Wuhan, China, but no K-pop idols have performed there.
X had decided to hold an exclusive concert with 1,000 seats as a comeback and had even received permission, but it was suddenly postponed, making it unclear whether it would go ahead.
While there have been precedents of sudden postponements of performances, the "Kep1er" fan concert was scheduled.
It will be interesting to see if the concert will go ahead as scheduled and create an opportunity to further raise expectations for the easing of the ban on Korean music.
They are currently promoting their comeback with "UBBLE GUM".
