The same rule applies to the first lady (Kim Kun-hee). Minister Chung said, "Until now, in order to give preferential treatment to former presidents, we have customarily allowed them to use the exclusive reception room, just like former presidents who have been detained in the past.
However, this measure is intended to correct the unfair practice of people abusing this system and using it as a personal rest room for long periods of time, refusing to participate in investigations or court proceedings."
Furthermore, Minister Chung said, "I have reassigned the director of Seoul Detention Center to ensure strict management of detainees," and added, "There are also criticisms that the measures were delayed."
"However, we have responded in accordance with the law and principles after conducting a rigorous investigation," he added.
