The police have decided to release the identity of suspect Aewon (26). Jang's name, age, and face will be posted on the Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency's website from today until the 10th of next month.
The committee members decided to release information about suspect Jang after considering the brutality of the crime, the seriousness of the damage, and the opinions of the victim's family.
At around 12:08 pm on the 29th of last month, Jang stabbed his former girlfriend, Ms. A, in her 30s, with a deadly weapon on the road in Gyejeong-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon.
A was taken to the hospital but died. The next day, Jang, who fled immediately after the crime, visited A's funeral home and asked the funeral home staff about his relationship with A.
After answering the staff member that she was his lover, the police immediately left. Also, at around 11:45 a.m. on the same day, the police received a report that "the driver was vomiting in a car parked on the road."
They tracked him down and made an emergency arrest near an underground passage in Sanseong-dong, Jung-gu. At the time, Jang had attempted to take poison, and after receiving treatment at a hospital, he was discharged on the 5th, according to police reports.
Chang was questioned. He said, "I got into a fight with the victim over the lease of a motorcycle, and I thought he was ignoring me, so I got angry and decided to kill him."
Police explained that Chang had decided to commit the crime three to four months before the incident, and that the root cause of the problem was that Chang had borrowed a motorcycle in Mr. A's name without permission.
It was discovered that Chang had prepared the tools for the crime in advance and then murdered Mr. A on the day they were supposed to go to change their motorcycles.
Police are placing emphasis on the possibility that the crime was planned, given that Chang rented a car in the victim's name and used it to escape.
