Based on the Chinese zodiac, the series “TWELVE” is an action hero drama depicting 12 angels who live among humans in human form to protect them, as they battle against a horde of evil.
So In-guk, who has demonstrated limitless acting prowess across genres in works such as 'I'm About to Die', 'The Handsome Man's Case File', 'One Day, Destruction Came to My Doorstep', 'A Billion Stars Falling from the Sky', and 'Shopping King Louis', has been beloved by global fans for his perfect synchronization with his characters, as well as his ability to seamlessly blend action, romance, and delicate emotional performances. This summer, he will make a striking transformation in 'TWELVE'.
So In-guk revealed that he chose 'TWELVE' because he was drawn to its compelling theme. He will portray Wonsung, an angel symbolizing a monkey, showcasing his unique charm. Wonsung is the fastest and most agile of the 12 angels, harboring the ambitious dream of succeeding Tesan (played by Ma Dong-seok) as captain. Though seemingly simple, he is unwavering in loyalty and sense of duty. So In-guk shared, “I pondered deeply on how to portray Wonsung's cheerful personality,” sparking anticipation for his portrayal of the character's lively presence.
Director Han Yoon-son explained, “Since angels are the animals most similar to humans, I wanted them to display a variety of emotions compared to other characters. Therefore, I wanted to start with a pure character dreaming of becoming the next captain and incorporate their growth.” This has raised expectations for the diverse stories and emotions So In-guk will showcase through “TWELVE.”
The released character poster and stills of Wonsung feature So In-guk's diverse expressions, creating a strong impact. The character is depicted with warm brown fur filling the Chinese character for “monkey”, symbolizing the warmth and playful charm of the character. So Inguk, who immersed himself in parkour and action training befitting a character inspired by a swift monkey, revealed, “I completed the action scenes with movements faster than usual,” sparking curiosity about the dynamic action he will showcase. Additionally, So In-guk, who has always been deeply interested in film and drama music as both an actor and musician, participated as a co-music director for 'TWELVE', demonstrating his deep affection and special passion for the work.
'TWELVE' has released character posters and stills for Wonsung, heightening anticipation. The series is set to air simultaneously on Disney+ and KBS 2TV's weekend mini-series on August 23rd (Saturday), drawing anticipation not only in Korea but worldwide.
