<Interview> Actor Ahn Bo Hyun's thoughts on the new character he took on in the movie ”The Devil Moved In”
Ahn Bo Hyun talks about the process and thoughts of taking on a harmless character in the movie "The Devil Moved In," which is the complete opposite of the strong characters he has played up until now, and what he thought before being cast.
Ahn Bo Hyun shared his honest thoughts about the lead actor's departure from the film. Ahead of the release of the film "The Devil Moved In" (director Lee Sang Geun), Ahn Bo Hyun spoke about his honest thoughts about the lead actor's departure from the film.
The interview took place at a cafe in the city of Lu. "The Devil Moved In" is about an unemployed woman who ends up taking on a bizarre part-time job watching over Songji (played by Yoona), who is awakened by a demon in the middle of the night.
Ahn Bo Hyun has previously appeared in TV series such as "Itaewon Class," "My Name: Lies and Revenge," and "Military Prosecutor Doberman."
He has met the public with his strong image and charismatic characters in various works such as "The Devil Moves In" and the films "Veteran: Violent Crimes Investigation Team" and "Noryang: Sea of Death."
Gilgu in "I've Been There" is a character that is the complete opposite of the strong and outgoing character image that Ahn Bo Hyun has shown in his previous works.
Despite his excellent athletic ability, he is far from being aggressive and has a side to him that is polite and pure, like a large dog.
Lugu does not succumb to the devil Songji's whims and meanness, but instead embraces her like a protector and tries to make the most of the time for her.
Ahn Bo Hyun asked if he felt any pressure while playing a character with a different feel to the image he has shown so far.
In response to the question, "It was more of a challenge than a burden. It was a script I wanted to try, and the timing was perfect for me as I was thinking about trying to play a character with a different feel.
I'm curious to see how the public will react to this different feeling. Of course, the audience may think that I don't suit the character of Kilgu based on their first impression, but once the character is completed,
"If people who had a strong first impression of me watch this movie, they will be able to see that I was able to bring out the charm of the character," she said.
"I think it will neutralize the vague sense of strangeness I had in Kutar," he said, expressing his expectations. He also revealed that his real personality is quite similar to Gilgu's.
It's a little closer. I also have an introverted side like Gilgu, and that side was even stronger when I was a student. As an adult, I was ranked "E (extrovert)" on the MBTI (personality test).
"I think I've been working hard and improving in the direction of wanting to become a 'Gilgu' person," she confessed. She continued, "Maybe because I have a Gilgu side to me, when Yuna, the director, and the staff see me on set, they say, 'Just
I don't know if those words were meant as a compliment, but the director cast me after seeing me like that.
Apart from the character, he said he was drawn to the healing charm that only the work can give. Ahn Bo Hyun said, "The character Gilgu
I felt like there are people like that out there in the world, and that he is a character who is so busy with work that he hides his pain and doesn't show it to the public.
There were also points where he realized that he could be loved, and I think that the awkwardness that he hadn't experienced in how to interact with people or meet people came out of the character of Gilgu.
I have never lived like that in my life, so I think Gil-gu could have gained strength from Seon-ji's family, and I also felt that Gil-gu, who had lost his way while working, was comforted when he met Seon-ji's family.
"The Devil Moved In" was known as "2 o'clock Date" before its release, and it was announced that Im Yoon Ah's co-star will be replaced by Ahn Bo Hyun before filming begins.
When asked if there was any pressure in the process of joining the show after the original actor had left, Ahn Bo Hyun replied, "Actually, I didn't know about Hot Topic, and I was told later through the company.
I found out about it through the show," he continued, "The production company behind this film was a company I was personally a fan of, and when I received the script and started reading it, I knew it was a Hot Topic before I even knew about it.
I wanted to play this character. I have played many roles in TV series in which I have strong masculinity and appear strong on the outside, so I thought this role would be a challenge for me as well.
I thought that perhaps this kind of image was also inside me, and that I could try to embody it. If I researched it and tried it successfully, I thought it would be useful for me in the future.
He said, "I approached this with that in mind," attracting attention.
