<Interview> Yoona (Girls' Generation) talks about her feelings when the male lead role was replaced in the movie ”The Devil Moved In” and her gratitude to co-star Ahn Bo Hyun
Yuna, a member of the Korean girl group "Girls' Generation" and also an active actress, looked back on the filming of the movie "The Devil Moved In."
Yuna is set to make a comeback to the theater this summer through the movie "The Devil Moved In."
Na plays the addictive devil Seonji in the drama. Seonji runs an ordinary cheongsepang shop during the day, but wakes up as an advanced devil at night, a man with a secret he doesn't even know about.
In a recent interview with Herald POP held at a cafe in Seoul, he revealed the difficulties he faced in portraying the polar opposite characters.
Above all, Yoona is drawing attention as she will be reuniting with director Lee Sang-geun, with whom she worked on the film "Exit."
Regarding this, Yoona said, "I worked with him on 'Exit', so I have a lot of good memories from that time, but I wouldn't say that's the biggest reason when choosing a project.
However, I can't say that it didn't apply to me at all. I chose it because the scenario was interesting and the characters were appealing."
He continued, "He's a director who I've worked with before, so I had a good idea of how the story would go.
I decided to appear in the drama because I thought I could trust the director and try my best." Yoona also said, "Sungji in Daytime has a neat and pure image.
For example, the night version of Songji was styled to be gorgeous and bold. The tone of the lines was also adjusted to match that, and it seems that the day version of Songji had more of an introverted side compared to the night version.
"I feel like I performed Songji at night with a lot of volume and a fast tempo, and all of my expressions were performed with exaggerated energy," he confessed.
At the same time, "I thought that Songji at night was too big and could run around freely, so I created a line that doesn't overlap with Songji during the day.
I acted with the width that allowed me to run around freely. There were so many staff members and everyone was looking at me, so I felt a little embarrassed, but once the camera started rolling and I spread out, I was able to act with all my might.
"I felt like I was so obsessed with Song Ji that I ran around like crazy," he said with satisfaction. Initially, actor Kim Seon Ho was cast as Gil-gu in this film, but due to his private life,
He was replaced by actor Ahn Bo Hyun. Furthermore, the male lead of the upcoming TV series "Tyrant Chef" has been replaced by actor Lee Chae Min, who was previously actor Park Sung Hoon.
Yuna said, "I felt that I had to take the lead in both of these works, so I personally thought a lot about my character. I thought about how I could best express it."
It was a project I was worried about, but by chance the situations of the other actors changed in many ways, so I was more concerned with doing what I had to do well."
He continued, "I'm happy and grateful that my (unusual) co-stars have been able to fully absorb their characters and are a perfect fit for me."
Furthermore, Yuna said about Ahn Bo Hyun, "Seonji in 'The Devil Moved In' is someone who is always there to take care of me and who I have to watch over, but
I wanted the character of Gilgu to look reliable in that way. I think his appearance was perfect for that. Gilgu is someone who protects Songji well.
"It's like the very essence of the game," he said, expressing his satisfaction. "I thought it suited me, and I felt like I could rely on it comfortably. I really can't beat him in terms of strength, no matter what I do, but he's a physique.
"Because we're both characters, I put in my own energy, but Bo-hyun acted in tandem with me, so I think we were able to make the most of our chemistry," she recalled.
Meanwhile, Yoona's new movie "The Devil Moved In" is about a man who takes on a bizarre part-time job watching over Songji (played by Yoona), who is awakened by a demon in the middle of the night.
The comedy tells the soulless story of Ahn Bo Hyun, an unemployed young man who is forced to work for a company, and will be released in theaters in Korea on the 13th of this month.
