Lee Byung-hun receives Special Achievement Award at Toronto Film Festival for film ”It Can't Be Done” - Korean media
Actor Lee Byung Hun was named the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival in recognition of his contributions to the film industry.
On the 5th, the Toronto International Film Festival announced this year's "Tribute" on its official website.
The list of nominees for the "Best Picture Awards" was announced, including Lee Byung-hun, directors Guillermo del Toro and HIKARI, and actor Jodie Foster.
The Toronto International Film Festival Tribute Award is an annual award given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the film industry.
"We are pleased to be able to celebrate the outstanding talent of directors Guillermo del Toro, the vision and imagination of director HIKARI, the emotional storytelling of director HIKARI, and the unique career of Jodie Foster," said the selection committee.
He described Lee Byung Hun as "a global star who has achieved great success in both Korea and Hollywood."
The 50th Toronto International Film Festival will be held from September 4th to 14th in Toronto, Canada.
The Tribute Awards ceremony will be held on September 7th. Lee Byung Hun was officially invited to the Film Festival for his starring role in director Park Chan Wook's new film, "Can't Be Helped."
This film was selected for the Gala Premiere section. The film "Hadakara Nai" depicts the battle for employment that Man-soo, an ordinary office worker, goes through to protect his family and life after being unexpectedly fired.
The film is based on the novel "The Axe" by American author Donald Westlake, and marks Park's first new work in three years since "The Decision to Break Up" in 2022.
It will also be screened as the opening film at the Busan International Film Festival, which opens on September 17th, and will be screened at its Asian premiere. "Hadakara" will be screened at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, which opens on the 27th (local time).
The film has also been invited to compete in the competition section of the ZEAL International Film Festival, drawing much attention. Lee Byung Hun plays the main character Man Soo, and Song Ye Ji In plays his wife Miri.
