Lee Chun-seok, a lawmaker from South Korea's ruling Democratic Party, who has been accused of trading stocks under someone else's name, left the party on the 5th.
Kwon Hyang-yeop, a spokesman for the party, said Lee had been elected on the same day.

Lee, who served as chairman of the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee, was caught using his mobile phone in the National Assembly plenary session the previous day, trading stocks in someone else's name.

"There is no room for apology, it is my mistake," he said. He decided that he could no longer burden the newly appointed party leadership and the party, and revealed that he had left the party and submitted his resignation as chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee.
Lee concluded by saying, "I accept all criticism and reprimands. I will sincerely cooperate with the investigation into the allegations that have been raised, and take this time to reflect and self-examine. I am sorry."
